Hevo covers more SaaS apps. QueryFlow runs on your laptop.

By Chris Davidson, founder of yForest · Updated September 26, 2026

Hevo is a hosted ELT platform built around a broad SaaS connector catalog and event-based pricing. For a team whose sources are mostly databases and a warehouse, that combination can cost more than it needs to.

Quick answer: Hevo Data's Free Plan covers up to 1 million events per month at no cost; its Starter plan is $299/month for 5 to 50 million events, and Professional runs $849/month for 20 to 100 million events, with usage above a plan's quota billed additionally as on-demand overage. QueryFlow has no event-based billing at all: Pipelines is $29.99/month or $199.99/year flat, for the 9 sources it supports, running as a native Mac app rather than a hosted service.

What Hevo does well

Hevo's real strength is SaaS breadth: well over a hundred pre-built connectors spanning ad platforms, CRMs, support tools, and databases, all landing in your warehouse through a hosted, no-infrastructure pipeline. For a team whose data sources span many different SaaS tools, that catalog is genuinely hard to replicate by hand, and Hevo's free tier (1 million events/month) is a real, no-cost way to try it.

Where the pricing gets harder to plan around

Hevo bills on events processed per month, with a tiered plan structure: Starter at $299/month spans 5 to 50 million events, Professional at $849/month spans 20 to 100 million. Crucially, Hevo's own pricing page states that usage above your plan's quota is billed additionally as on-demand overage, meaning a month with an unexpected spike in source volume can cost more than the flat plan price suggests, on top of picking a tier that already has to guess your typical volume in advance.

The cost math

A team syncing a handful of database sources plus one or two SaaS tools, comfortably under a few million events a month, sits inside Hevo's Free Plan (1 million events) or needs the $299/month Starter tier if they cross that line. QueryFlow Pipelines, for the same workload, is $199.99/year, less than one month of Hevo's Starter tier, provided the sources in question are among the 9 QueryFlow supports. The tradeoff is direct: Hevo's price buys a connector catalog QueryFlow doesn't have; QueryFlow's price buys a flat rate Hevo doesn't offer.

What you'd give up switching from Hevo

The SaaS connector catalog, mainly. If your pipelines pull from ad platforms, support tools, or CRMs beyond Salesforce, Hevo has almost certainly built that connector and QueryFlow hasn't. QueryFlow's source list, Snowflake, Redshift, Postgres, MySQL, BigQuery, Databricks, Salesforce, Google Sheets, and CSV/Excel, is a fraction of Hevo's catalog by design; it's a native app for a specific, smaller set of engines, not a hosted platform for every SaaS tool a company might use.

When to actually switch

If your Hevo pipelines are mostly database-to-warehouse or warehouse-to-warehouse, and you're paying Hevo's hosted-platform price for what amounts to a handful of well-understood connector types, QueryFlow's flat rate and bundled SQL/AI tooling is worth testing during the 14-day trial. If a meaningful share of your pipelines depend on Hevo's broader SaaS catalog, keep those on Hevo and evaluate only the subset that fits QueryFlow's connector list.

Migration notes

Hevo pipelines don't import into QueryFlow directly. Each source connection is re-added with fresh credentials, and field mappings are rebuilt in Data Sync, choosing Insert, Update, or Upsert based on how the original Hevo pipeline behaved. For a small number of database and warehouse pipelines, this is a short setup task, not a project.

A worked example

Say Hevo currently pipes a MySQL orders table into BigQuery every hour. In QueryFlow, add the MySQL connection under Databases, add BigQuery with a service account key (needing the BigQuery Job User and BigQuery Data Viewer roles at minimum, Data Editor if the sync writes back), then in Data Sync map the orders table's columns to a BigQuery target table, choosing Upsert on order_id so repeat runs update existing rows instead of duplicating them, and schedule it hourly. The write itself runs as a MERGE against BigQuery under the hood, the same mechanism any properly built upsert pipeline uses.

SELECT order_id, customer_id, status, total, updated_at
FROM orders
WHERE updated_at >= NOW() - INTERVAL 1 HOUR;

That incremental filter on updated_at is what keeps each hourly run small and fast, whether the pipeline sits on Hevo or on QueryFlow underneath it.

The support model difference

Hevo, as a larger hosted platform, offers dedicated support channels scaled to its plan tiers. QueryFlow's support runs through Discord and email as a smaller, independent product. For a team used to an enterprise support SLA, that's a real difference worth weighing alongside the pricing math, not just a footnote to it.

Checking your own numbers before deciding

Before assuming either tool's published pricing applies cleanly to your situation, pull an actual row or event count from your own sources over a recent month. Hevo's per-plan event ranges and QueryFlow's flat rate both depend entirely on where your real volume lands, and a rough estimate from your production tables takes a few minutes and beats guessing from either vendor's marketing examples.

Frequently asked

What happens if I go over my Hevo plan's event quota?

Per Hevo's own pricing page, usage above your plan's quota is billed additionally as on-demand overage, on top of the flat plan price.

Is QueryFlow cheaper than Hevo?

For sources QueryFlow supports, yes on a flat basis: $199.99/year against Hevo's $299-$849/month tiers. For sources only Hevo's catalog covers, the comparison isn't apples to apples since QueryFlow doesn't offer those connectors at all.

Does QueryFlow have a free plan like Hevo's 1M events/month?

No. QueryFlow offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card required, not an ongoing free tier.

Can I keep some pipelines on Hevo and move others to QueryFlow?

Yes. That's the realistic path for most teams: keep SaaS-heavy pipelines on Hevo, and move database and warehouse pipelines that fit QueryFlow's connector list.
